New Jennifer O'Connor Video - "Always In Your Mind"

thumbnail icon: New Jennifer O'Connor Video - "Always In Your Mind"

Jennifer O'Connor's just your average singing/songwriting type, getting called up to cover Dylan at Lincoln Center here, knocking out an album with producer John Agnello in 12 days there. Her new album Here With Me's out this week via Matador, and on its first official video, director Zacarias Bezunartea plays out the tune full of relationship stalemates with the relatable stress, and mental and spatial chess, of sitting stranded in the kitchen with the one that's always in your mind but never really there. And this is Brooklyn, so don't say that "she could always just live alone." Do you know how high rent is here?

Here With Me is out now via Matador. She talks a bit about the record (with Yo La's James McNew at her side and asking some Qs) in this clip. The title track's my favorite (and a little sunnier if "Always" has you taking inventory of your own kitchen mess):

I'm not Mr. Singer/Songwriter guy, but this is kind of an amazing song. And none of the false modesty these s/s types always seem to have.

the song is good. but why is Matador sending out mass e-mails asking people to drive up the comment count? lame-o-rama

Every record company asks interns to make positive comments about artists on videos. :-P It's not weird at all. In fact it's standard industry practice among indie and major labels alike...

the e-mail was sent to a bunch of bloggers. not interns or actual fans.

I love the simple images... there is a realness about the video that brings clarity to the song. Interested to see what comes next

While it could be seen as a bit shady to ask interns, street teams, bloggers...etc. to post and drive up a positive comment count...it is in no way a new industry practice and definitely doesn't change the fact that Jennifer O'Connor is an amazing artist. The video isn't all that great. But, the song is awesome!

I can relate to this song - it's sad to be with someone and feel alone in their presence. I wish she would come to Texas!!
