New Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong Video - "Lonely Buoy"

In the parlance of our friends across the pond, the alliterative Joe Lean & the Jing Jang Jong are hotly tipped for a big year in '08. There's plenty to make 'em memorable before even hearing a note, though, and aside from the jumble of Js: namely, this band has the blood of the Pipettes running in their veins, figuratively via Joe himself (who was until last year the girl-group's drummer, going the by the handle Joe Van Moyland) and literally via guitarist Thomas Dougall (brother of Rosie Pipette). What makes 'em so set for success next year? According to NME editor Conor McNicholas, it's all about how good looking they are! Seriously. Quoth Conor:

Joe Lean was the drummer in the Pipettes and he's also an actor, and fronts Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong. I've only met him once but he's like Pete Doherty - when he walks into a room the lights come on. The two guitarists would look amazing on their own but together they're unbelievable, and Panda the bass player looks extraordinary. They've not been put together by a major label. It's all Joe Lean's vision and they've got a fresh, poppy sound.
A look at the video for the band's single "Lonely Buoy" at the very least, affirms McNicholas's assertion...

...Joe and the boys are rather winsome, right down to their jings, jangs, and jongs, ladies. But the boys aren't the only ones on spinning pedestals, here; there's a twirling woman, stripped of everything but hand-scrawled lyrics snaking across her bare skin. It's dead sexy closed captioning for what's ultimately a poppy, radio-friendly post-punk-y tune. Best part: You could slip Matt Tong into the music and the band name and not even miss a beat.

The "Lonely Buoy" single is out in the UK on 2/18 via Vertigo.

Pedantry: it's JL&T Jing Jang Jong (singular, like it makes the name any better)

I think that Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jongs is better shouldn,t be changed. There are so many bands out there that have boring names that start with 'the' At least they could be arsed to think up a unique and individual name for their great band.
