New Justice Video - "DVNO"

Justice once again enlist the artwork services of So Me a.k.a. the man behind those Gummy winning magic tees for "DVNO," a video so nice we decided to work on Saturday for it. As Mehdi Pinson sings, Mr. Me illustrates the lyrics in his pop art style (particularly loving the old-school HBO logo treatment of DVNO), with the help of Machinemolle on motion-design. It's okay if you don't watch it now, though; history dictates that Kanye will request So Me do a slightly modified, watered down version for himself in a few months.

is out, but you already knew that.

just doesn't quite have the D.A.N.C.E. personality...

I actually liked this a lot more than the D.A.N.C.E. video, but it might be just because I love old-school graphic design, and it was fun to play "guess that logo" on a few of them.

This video is massively epic. Like the original heavy metal animated movie epic.

I love it. This style of the D.A.N.C.E. method works perfectly for the song.

yeah the video is excellent, sucks about the ending though. It almost ruins it.

Really pleased they decided to release DVNO as a single.. it was my favourite on the album by far (although perhaps not the best.. if that makes sense). Massively into the video to. I suspect theyll change directors for the second record.. just keeping everything consitent brand wise for this album, which isn't a bad move really.

my comment is in responce to: itsjustaphase

when you say change directors, do you mean art director? ie. so-me? if you meant him, i would gladly bet my limited edition justice album on 12" that they don't, hehe. So-Me does work for all of the Ed Banger artists and I think their second album will be by So-Me also. His work is really good, sorry by the way, if you meant video director (and not art). I like DVNO, not my favorite, I think my favorite, excluding Waters of Nazareth (cause its so good) is probably Genesis, it's possibly the best opener to album, full stop.

We can admit no one really like justice as soon as everyone admits they don't really like radiohead.

Liking Justice is so uncool that its actually cool again. You don't have to ask their name to figure out how cool they are.

why is that all justice songs have that "kind of bad quality" sound, i seem to enjoy the song but i can't past how they sound like a bad rip of the actual song...

hmm

i love how people think the ending is rubbish, it shows you dont get it, if you got it you would like it.
im not going to explain it, im just going to watch it again and see how many other old 80s graphics i can remember from my childhood.

this is a sick video and so refreshing in the times of absolute shit being put out by labels.

everyones a critic but somtimes you should just enjoy videos and smile, this is one of those times.

P.S love the Kanye comment... i will be waiting for that video also hahaha

When can we expect the VHS release?

But in all seriousness, this is easily the best video I've seen in ages, even if the underlying song might not necessarily hold the same distinction.

Excellent Video.

Justice is very innovative.
But Hip-hop is mainstream.
Hip-hop artists just copy copy copy.
Which is why I hope Hip-hop dies a miserable death.
Elektro is alot more fun and has an exhuberant playful innocence that hip hop lost.
As soon as the Ambercrombie generation embraces something, that's when 'I bounce.'

The Justice sound is very mid-range and meant to sound 'thick.' A technique very popular in the disco era and dance music in te 80's. The trick is to have multiple layers of different bass sounds on top of an old school 303 bass. Its usually a 303 bass with a slap-bass layered ontop of it. It makes a great low-end.
Add symphonics and syrupy strings along with some nice male falsetto and undeciferable lyrics and you have something. I love the fact that DVNO is causing a swarm of discussion as to what it means. Great marketing tool. I propose Justice for all ;)
