New Kanye West & Rihanna Video - "Paranoid"
A simple but well executed concept for the fifth 808s & Heartbreak video finds a determined Rihanna on an after hours cruise down a long and winding road. The night vision clip starts and ends with the photogenic lingerie-clad pop star in bed; those aforementioned driving scenes are a dream sequence. Close-ups show her face alternating between fury and maniacal laughter (acting!), but just so there's no confusion the whole thing is prefaced by some animated keywords (disorder, heartache, deceit, insomnia, etc). Kanye's in it too as the frustrated narrator. Though I think we can agree Rihanna has reason to be paranoid about the contents of her boyfriend's cellphone? In any case, this is a low-quality bootleg captured by professional 808s leaker Lowkey an an event with L.A. Reid last night. If you wanna wait for the real version, check this page in a day or two. I like this song/video, so I refrained from calling Kanye "Gayfish" in this post. The third and ugliest Air Yeezy colorway drops 6/6.

IT HURTS ME TO SEE THE OLD AND VERY WRONG VERSION OF THE PARANOID VIDEO GET LEAKED ALL OVER THE NET WHILE I WAS ON AN 11 HR FLIGHT AND COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT'S JUST FRUSTRATING WHEN THIS STUFF HAPPENS BECAUSE I REALLY CARE ABOUT THE PRODUCT AND SINCE VIDEOS NEVER GET PLAYED ANY WAY YOU MIGHT AS WELL TWEAK THEM AND MAKE THEM AS SPECIAL AS POSSIBLE. THE VERSION THAT GOT LEAKED FROM THE CAMERA PHONE LAST WEEK IS AT LEAST A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE FINAL PRODUCT. THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR YOUR SUPPORT BUT THAT VIDEO WAS NOT UP TO MY STANDARDS. Rihanna's never been an emotional performer; you could even say her strength lies in her restraint and coolness. But here, without a singing part, she delivers a two-tone performance that makes this look like some car/booze ad parody (the overall concept and shooting style surely don't help either). She's cute when she's laughing, though.

Liking this song is one thing but "great music"? Kanye makes here today, gone tomorrow pop music. You are the one who does not understand. Try getting out of your little Pitchfork/Indie/Hip hop box. There is truly great music out there.
