New Kid Sister (Feat. Kanye West) Video - "Pro Nails"

So many Kids in the hall these days (see Kid Cudi, the Cool Kids, et al). But how many are this thrifty? Kid Sister (aka Melissa Young) got together with director Ruben Fleischer and $3,000 to put together a long-overdue video for single sensation "Pro Nails" (not out 'til next year, but you've had it awhile). Grab your mouse and let your fingersnails do the walking, stick through the end for some "Switchboard."

Kid Sister's full-length debut Coco Beware is due next year on Fool's Gold.

great beat and hook, and then kid sister opens her mouth and ruins the whole thing. can't wait until competent MCs start using the beat.

Isn't Coco Beware the name of a cat owned by one of Karen O's friends, and was the rumored title for "Show Your Bones"?

WTF???? What a bunch of idiots. That shit was awesome. Sorry it's not some emaciated 19 year old white people who can't sing strumming an acoustic guitar.

Will do, Wilma. I'd rather jam nails up my ass than listen to any more hipster bullshit.

Quit sucking the collective hipster elite cock and deeming anything not specially packaged to meet your indie needs as awful. The ratio of how much whining you do versus how much people actually care is ridiculous. Please go somewhere.

To all the people who don't like this and question why it's up here, why don't you just start your own blogs and write about Band of Horses all the time? that would be fun!

Wot Scott said.

Sometimes I really can't believe how narrow-minded (musically, I shall throw in cautiously) some of the readers of this very blog are.

I thought both the video and the lyrics are great, I'm quite excited about the album now. Though not as exited as I am about Lupe Fiasco's The Cool, which will be released on December 18. Hope to find some coverage here, Stereogum :)

i'll agree that most commenters here are pretty narrow-minded when it comes to non-indie music, but just because something is hip hop and posted on a not-hip hop blog doesn't make it automatically good. im sure plenty of these commenters have a good idea of what good rap and hip hop is, and that is why so many are acknowledging that KID SISTER IS WACK.

and thanks for the obligatory "conscious hip hop" reference, Jules.. this thread wasn't white enough already.

and Scott, you don't think this qualifies as "hipster shit"? don't you see the sunglasses?

nick, I'm usually the one to point out the obligatory comments mentioning Lupe Fiasco whenever there is a post about Kanye West. However, my enthusiasm is sincere - I firmly believe that The Cool is going to be the best album of the year. I've been meaning to plug the album in the comments for a while, but due to the largely snarky under- and overtones by someposters, I just couldn't be bothered.

So PLEASE forgive me for picking the one hip hop post on the front page in order to bring it up. And for showing me the race card. On behalf of my ancestry, I refuse to accept it though.

And I am now firmly re-established in my resolve to just read the posts and stay the hell out of the comments.

long fake nails are so nasty. they just make you look trashy. so, it's stupid subject matter to start, but the dancing fingers are sweet. her flow is pretty typical, but it's kinda cool when the song does that switch to house beat and she keeps rapping. elementary shit, though. like high school freestyles.

different strokes for different folks. no need to get worked up about whether or not someone likes it or not. this is my jam though. she's gonna blow up, as well as the chicago juke sound, so get used to this homies.

and i thought m.i.a. was a low point.
combine equal parts snap crap and mindless hipster bandwagoning and you get this...

this and other new hipster hop threatens to be the final "nail" in the hip hop coffin...no amount of late 80's/early 90's garb will bring this stuff closer to that era's golden sound...

Kid Sister is awesome, its something new for once instead of the same song cut up and re-placed to make a "new" song.
Until you can come out with a video doing better than this woman, shut up and stop wasting peoples time with your ignorance.

and by the way, i dont even listen to rap i listen to oldies and hardcore music and i still think this shit is what the fuck is up
