New Killers Video - "Shadowplay"

Anyone we talk to that's seen early screenings of Corbjin's Ian Curtis biopic Control has nothing but raves, for Anton's treatment, for Sam Riley's performance, for the feel of the flick. Quite the opposite for the Killers' soundtrack Joy Division cover. Still, this one has potential to please, bits of Brandon mixed in with footage from the film. Watch it on mute?

If you're looking for a black and white Control-infused video to enjoy truly, go with this one.

Really? I kind of love the cover. I think the synth and Brandon's voice go nicely with the song.

fucking embarrassing cover. this was not, nor should EVER be, a fucking pop song. whats up with those bouncey lil (preset) synths? ugh.

this, on the other hand, does the original justice :

silversun pickups doing it acoustically

i saw a screening followed by an anton corbijn q&a -- he said he purposely wanted a pop treatment of the song to lift the mood in the theater after such a heavy film. if you keep that in mind, the otherwise lame killers nailed it.

I've never heard the original, which probably DQs me from giving my opinion on this board, but this cover sounds great. The snarky tone of this post is embarrassing.

I imagine the meeting went down like this, "hey guys, remember Shadow Play?" "I am not into musicals" Brandon Flowers replies. "Me neither. Which is why you will be doing a reinterpretation of a Joy Division song; but it needs to sound contrary to what the actual song sounds like, and I feel you guys, the Killers, are capable." "What's a Joy Division?" Flowers quips.

I have to say, i really don't dislike the song like everybody else. it is a pretty solid cover even if it is "poppy" i mean yeah the original is better but it isn't half bad.

They are popular, write great songs and sell records therefore they suck and their cover songs suck too. Right now i'm listening to obscure krautrock and as far as newer stuff Idk Black dice is cool I guess but in a so 4yrs ago way. U know?

I don't know what y'all are talking about, but this video and song are quite enjoyable.

I don't know... I haven't heard the original, but I don't really like this cover. Maybe that means I will like the original? I like what Joy Division I've heard. I'm not really a Killers fan to begin with so I guess I was kinda bound not to like it.

This is my favourite song off their new album. Pretty decent material for a B side album.

I've seen Control and I felt that this lame cover playing over the end credits completely killed the sombre, haunting mood of an otherwise stellar film.

This video only serves to revisit that heinous crime.

the wavy screen effects and glitches when the killers are on the tv screen remind me of the that freaky video from "the ring", but the killers are far scarier than anything in that movie.
