New Lady Sovereign Video - "So Human"

thumbnail icon: New Lady Sovereign Video - "So Human"

Moving beyond Jigsaw's first single "I Got You Dancing," Lady Sovereign is focusing her attention on the Cure-sampling followup "So Human." If you recall, it makes liberal use of "Close To Me"'s central keyboard hook. When I first wrote about the track I wondered aloud if Sovereign would also "replicate the original's the wardrobe-over-the-cliff theme" in the video. No such luck, but her crimped hair's circa '85, and the clip's playful look at the media, shrinks, paparazzi, and red carpets is even older.

Here's a remix.

Lady Sovereign - "So Human (JoolsMF Remix)" (MP3)

Jigsaw is out 4/7 via EMI.

Honestly, I think that is more then sampling.

It makes "liberal use of 'Close to Me's' central keyboard hook?" If by central keyboard hook, you mean keyboards, rhythm section, horns, and melody...basically the whole song. Why post the followup equally awful video to accompany the universally-agreed-upon awful song?

Sampling? That isn't sampling.

Everyone living outside of the US (and maybe Canada) should not be allowed to rap.

It's not as horrible as people here are making it out to be. Maybe its that the Cure isn't exactly a sacred cow to me.

Seriously when did sporty spice from the spice girls start rapping? JK it's okay, but I couldn't help noticing the striking resemblance

I really wish rappers would stick to their usual elevator music with beats.
This is probably the worst thing since Eminem destroyed Aerosmith's 'Dream On'

I'm not lying, but I think the Bloodhound Gang sampled this song years and years ago.

The adjective that comes to mind when I see her is "cheeky".

Regardless of my feelings on it, I'm pretty sure this track's going to be all over the radio pretty soon.
