New LCD Soundsystem Video - "Big Ideas"

LCD Soundsystem mean business about their support for the forthcoming stylish blackjack movie 21. It started by contributing an original tune, "Big Ideas," to the 21 soundtrack. And it's continued here, with the band having waited a conspicuous number of days between premiering the audio and now unleashing the video. Just how many days? Yep, 21. Anyway back then we said the song's "long instrumental intro seems to suggest a chase scene. Or maybe a really bad-ass game of blackjack." And maybe when it pops up in the Kevin Spacey/Kate Bosworth flick it will accompany one of those visuals (between the two, we're going double down on the latter). The Ace Norton-directed video, however, doesn't give our theory any play. It doesn't give James Murphy any play either ... unless you count the girl that pops up with face paint identical to the stuff the DFA man wore during his "All My Friends" clip. She's joined by sailors, dancers, vampires, and a bunch of folks with massive hands. (That last part may seem random, but who better to visually interpret the song's handclaps?)

UPDATE: Video's been removed from YouTube, sorry! Here's the song again, and you can imagine your own visuals:

More on the movie here.

I was kinda looking forward to checking this out. Too bad YouTube has probably already become the worst video site between it's dozens of clones.

Damn you youtube and your 99.9% of useless, crappy low quality content. Anyone got a mirror? Maybe from a company who didn't USED TO BE cool?

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt
