New Cure - "A Perfect Boy" (Live At Red Rocks)

The Cure in 2008, everybody. Sasquatch! taught us it's not a pretty sight...

...but at least "The Only One" taught us that it still sounds "like a dream." We're 10 days off from the release of "Freakshow," the second of the four promised advance singles from their forthcoming 13th studio album (each track due on the 13th of its respective month), but we can probably count on YouTube to fill in the gaps. To wit, someone caught new cut "A Perfect Boy" at Red Rocks some nights ago. The audio quality is good enough to make out the optimistically lovelorn vibe and lyrics ("I don't want to get innocent / I have no need to take my time / We're running out of beautiful things to say / So come on, stay here for awhile"), and the video quality is bad enough to not have Robert Smith's makeup haunt your dreams.

Nice. Cure tour:

Wow! At least we now know that if they weren't already done filming the new Batman movie that Robert Smith could have filled in for Heath Ledger.

Why Robert Why, why why why? I can't think of the last time I heard a Cure song that hit me right away. Probably "Edge of a Deep Green Sea". I guess it's a good thing for my wallet that they don't make good music anymore.

he doesn't sound as 'on' with this song as when i saw them. the song was a lot tighter at the hollywood show. love that guitar riff.

As someone who spends more time than he should surfing Cure on the web, a much better audio version of "A Perfect Boy" can be found on Bradley's Almanac:

For a second that picture made me think this was about The Dark Knight.

Give Robert Smith a break because during the filming of this video clip he had been suffering from a cold since the chicago show. So you can find him at his peak a few shows later than this. He never once canceled a show even tho he didn't feel good!

Robert Smith's resemblance to an old lady is uncanny.

oh, leave that man alone!! who cares about his make up! !he´s absolutly brilliant as a musician an a true gentleman... How many musicians nowadays can claim to have those qualities!!

Plus, we are talking about a real talented musician not a super model who fucks with whatever musician she cans... If we would be talking about the second, I would understand the critics about the make up, but we are not darling, we are not...

jesus, you'd think robert smith just started wearing make-up. wake up, people! he's looked the same (give or take a few pounds and wrinkles) for years. get over it.
