New Live Hold Steady Video - "Stay Positive"

The Hold Steady showcased the title track from their fourth album in that stream we posted last week. Now we have "Stay Positive" video evidence. Craig looks every bit the part of the hardcore singer with his frequent hand gestures, crowd riling hand claps, and positive youth (of today) exultations. Right, he always looks like that. The show's from 2/26 -- this past Tuesday -- the band wigging out at Manchester Academy. Anarchy in the UK, etc.

We love the new hardcore Hold Steady. Amrit just put an "x" on his hand in solidarity.

Stereopussies - It ain't hardcore, it's a rock song with lyrics about another time and place in Craig's brain, the joys of his hardcore youth, but the song is just a pretty basic rock song. Don't sell your souls quite yet.

@KidHardcore

I think that was irony. But then again, the hardcore scene always did take itself too seriously. Even when Gorilla Biscuits was sipping brews backstage. Twit.

"Even when Gorilla Biscuits was sipping brews backstage."

Where are you getting this shit? It's kind of a fucked up accusation if you're just talking out of your ass. Twit.

that guy in the front row looked bored as hell. also, he didn't clap at the end. I hate people who don't clap at the end. Too cool to clap, huh? Well fuck off home then.

Although really, the song hasn't blown me away. Mediocre.

VERY mediocre. I have to hear it on record before I make any judgements, the sound quality of that video was piss poor.

It's not hardcore at all (which in my mind is a good thing). I just hope they keep rolling in the direction of "Girls and Boys...." Very excited for this album.
