New Live Smashing Pumpkins Video - "99 Floors"
That Smashing Pumpkins celebratory 20th Anniversary DVD, If All Goes Wrong, is out next week: The 2-disc set looks at SP's 2007 19-show comeback tour, also dedicating an entire disc to live footage from their 2007 residency at the Fillmore, San Francisco. When they did their California stand, Billy Corgan explained it to Spinner:
The general idea of doing the residencies for us was to create an artistic opportunity ... By being in the same bed every night, but yet being in the same community, it affords the opportunity to see the band really have their teeth sunk into a certain energy and vibe. As the old music business systems break down, a residency will create a sense of a moment in time that general touring no longer can.
That makes very little sense if you read it slowly more than once. Leading by example, though, here's Billy with his acoustic guitar doing previously unreleased "99 Floors." We're told it's a "studio" performance. Sink your teeth into the energy and vibe.
If All Goes Wrong is out 11/11 via Coming Home Media.
While we're talking unreleased songs, it ought be noted SP performed a slew of covers during their two-set Halloween show in Columbus, Ohio. The audience got acoustic renditions of "Louie Louie," "Wipeout," "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," "Monster Mash," etc. They also did "The Gambler" and "Hang On Sloopy." The electric set was more Kimmel-like. They opened the following night in Cleveland with "99 Floors" and also did "Disarm," sans Groban.

some seriously great post-Zeitgeist shit these days but what the fuck is he talking about? the more he blabbers on about the "industry" and where the pumpkins fit in, the less i think he really gets it

cool, when did zwan get back together?

That was surprisingly excellent. I was a huge SP fan but Zeitgeist did nothing for me. I hope the new material continues to be good.

You have to be a faggy nerd to come onto stereogum, read the latest article involving Billy Corgan, then lunge at your chance to comment the same relentlessly derived crap. You know, after a while, everyone's going to be slandering Billy Corgan, then what are you going to do hipsters? You're going to have to start praising Billy just to go against the consensus. Then you'll eventually be trapped in your own little comment paradox. Only to surmount in your self realization that you spend way to much time hovering over one man's every move just to reassure yourself that you don't like him. Why do you keep coming back? Are you looking for a reason to change your mind? Doesn't make any sense. But supposedly, I'm a nerdy fag now. Bitch please.

Way to go - the typical hate comments. Are you judging the music or the band and its antics?

that was really boring.

Hello Pisces Iscariot.

as we are finding out, the trouble is that most artists and bands don't fade away at all, they keep coming back whether we wish them to or not, lacking in any other abilities other than being more than a little self absorbed in thinking people should still are about their prattlings via song.
