New Mary Timony Band Video - "Sharpshooter"

Ben from art collective Paper Rad is behind this interstellar animated clip for the Mary Timony Band's first clip from their Kill Rock Stars LP The Shapes We Make, in which a UFO gives life to Mary's bedroom toys (a green Hershey kiss shaped guy and a boxy thing). Said toys are wary of the UFO (of course), and so they and Mary take off through the woods. Meanwhile, the angry UFO enlargens a bumblebee, upon which Mary, the Kiss, and the Box escape, off to the sanctuary of a mountain cave. The end destination is Fantastic City, however, so after a brief respite (and some help from a deer), Mary and the gang avoid a mountain jeep-driving hippie and hitch across the country. There's also a glimpse of a busy looking snuffleupagus in a forest, but we aren't even gonna try to make sense of that. 'Cause that's just crazy.

This sure is a catchy tune, and The Shapes We Make is better than Ex Hex, but - sorry, Mary - it's still not on par with Helium!

Thank God they made it to Fantastic City, things were looking pretty hairy there for a minute.

Well, this album is probably the best thing she's done since Helium, but when you're comparing it to Ex Hex and Mountains, it's not a hard order to fill.

The video is just deplorable, though. Ouch.
