New Matt & Kim Video - "Daylight"

thumbnail icon: New Matt & Kim Video - "Daylight"

Matt and Kim are a smiley couple who live together and play music as Matt & Kim. You knew that, and in the video for "Daylight" you get to see it all play out, the smiles and the living together and the playing of the music. The secret to their permagrins is more than just peppy, joy-punky piano jams, though -- it's making those peppy, joy-punky piano jams wherever they go. I'll admit, sometimes their whole "we love each other and just want you to smile" can be too sugary for me, but this track and video pairing is pretty much just irresistibly adorable. Also there are some super high-budget flight sequences at the end.

The couple that plays in the dumpster together, stays together. You can download the track at Mountain Dew's Green Label Sound site. NYers, Matt & Kim are set to play a Halloween show at the Danbro Brewery in Bushwick, and here are the rest of the tour dates:

People say plenty of mean things about these two but the fact is they make fun, catchy music and are a blast to see live.

I live in NYC and go out to see a lot of live music. Matt & Kim are one of the lamest bands I have seen in years. Big deal they have fun. That does not make them good. Standards overall of what is good music have gone way down over the years especially in indie rock. Most new music just sounds like re-treads of late 70's - 80's sounds. What happened to being original?
