New MGMT Video - "Time To Pretend"

Well now the imagery on the Oracular Spectacular cover that prompted Letterman to remark what a "good time that looks like" at the top of the show makes sense. Cue up the psychedelic colors and return to paradise setting as MGMT strip themselves of this world's structure and start anew, Lord Of The Flies-meets-"Gronlandic Edit" style. They're riding cats and worshiping temples and having babies, marking the second time in a little over a month they've helped create a new scene. We should've known by the vowel omissions they'd were busy dudes.

Oracular Spectacular is out now via Columbia.

I'm much digging the band, the song, and this video. Now that is a breath of fresh air. Wicked.

Several moments in the video are direct recreations of images/scenes from Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain.
Brilliant!

this is such a cynical attempt by a major label to appeal to hipsters. cuz hipsters love the 60s these days right? let's have a big euphoric animal collective freak folk beach party! ra ra rah...

these dudes are the real thing. they were dancing in loincloths years before columbia threw money at them and offered to help them realize their dreams. PLUS the song is a satire about selling out, so have a sense of humor if you dare.

That part at 0:55 where they jump out of the field reminds me of the level ends in Sonic the Hedgehog when all of the animals come out of the capsule.
Saw them in Phoenix last week. They look about 19, but I guess they're not much older than that.
And the redhead guitarist looks like Eric Stoltz in "Fast Times."

that wasnt the eucharist they were taking. i'm pretty sure they're taking e tablets. ever see blue dolphin pills?

somehow... i feel they make music from somewhere deep and lost within us.

I'm a huge fan...fucking love these boys. It's a great album and they've been getting better live. Check out this hilarious video from their college days - it's kind of Flight of the Conchords esque (but it was done before the TV show)

this video has many references to a movie called "Holy Mountain" by Alejandro Jodorowsky, another muthafucka who did a shitload of acid. The video's tight, though, and so is the movie
