New M.I.A. Video - "Boyz" & Kala Cover Art

Miss Arulpragasam returns after having raided the Photoshop color palette pantry with a busy-bright and epileptically challenging clip for the quirk-sampled bhangra-banger "Boyz" -- the third track we've heard from Kala -- shot in Jamaica with the help of a limber danceline and lots o' special fx. If watching the vid makes you seize up, then definitely don't visit her new site.

Kala is out in the UK on 8/21 via XL, on 8/22 in the US via Interscope. Tracklist (and the Kala cover) after the jump.

01 "Bamboo Banga"
02 "Bird Flu"
03 "Boyz"
04 "Jimmy"
05 "Hussel [ft. Afrikan Boy]"
06 "Mango Pickle Down River [ft. the Wilcannia Mob]"
07 "20 Dollar"
08 "World Town"
09 "The Turn"
10 "XR2"
11 "Paper Planes"
12 "Come Around [ft. Timbaland]"
"20 Dollar" = the sequel to "10 Dollar"? What can you get for a 20 dollar? Anything you want x two, we guess. Anyway, feast your eyes on Kala...

Wow, that video offends senses I didn't even know I had.

I can't even say I dislike it. It's just an absolute clusterfuck of nonsense. Which is oddly intriguing in its own way.

Ugh. That cover reminds me of tetris, or vomit, not sure which.

The Fader blog has a few videos up from her recent performance at the Radio1 Festival last month, with videos of her doing "Jimmy", "Hustle" and "Bamboo Banger"; all tracks from her new album. But the only one still up is the vid for "Hustle".

Yep, I think "Hit That" was an Arular B-side or a castoff from those sessions.

That was pretty horrible. Her old stuff was much more ear friendly. This just wants to irrate me and cause my eyes to want to turn around and look inside my own skull to save themselves.

Mango Pickle Down River has to be one of the songs Diplo worked on when he was in Australia last. The Wilcannia Mob are a hip-hop group consisting of 4 Aboriginal teens from the outback.

This album should be shit hot.

hey i love M.I.A. and i can't wait for her album to come out but doesn't this song kind of sound exactly the same as Bird Flu? I haven't heard a new song with her actually saying more than like 10 words over and over again, I hope she has more lyrical songs because i love her lyrics, like in Amazon and 10 Dollar.

And the song featuring Aboriginal teens seems really awesome!

I Love you kinghater. You took the words out of my mouth. Dying of laughter. Terribly pointless and irritating song. Sort of a big WTF if you ask me.

Love her or hate her, at least she's doing her own thing. The first time I heard "Arular" I just flat out didn't get it. Then all of a sudden it became THE album for my summer back in 2005. I love her. And I read somewhere that she used to live with a famous British fashion designer, so her choice to wear Hypercolor and Zubas is part of her whole image I guess. Whatever that's supposed to be.

She's an idiot. Her 'design skills' are pathetic, her videos and website are grotesque and her music is bland dross. She's a cocktacle.

You should listen to Dido instead.
