New Missy Elliott Video - "Ching-A-Ling / Shake Your Pom Pom"

The first ever 3-D video! Take that, picture of U2 in 3-D glasses. Missy's first single, which will be on the Step Up 2: The Streets soundtrack but also the forthcoming album which you get to name, had its video debut on TRL yesterday. We watched (such is the joys of blogging from home). They had someone listen to Nada Surf's Lucky (?!) for a review, and then followed it up with the stars of Making The Band (that's more like it), and in the middle, Missy laid out the three-dimensional facts. None of it was that interesting, save maybe the bit dispelling the liposuction rumor (which we didn't know; "I mean I'm still heavy. I would've gotten the Paris Hilton jump-off!"), and the bit about the "Ching-A-Ling"' vid's dance troupe.

They're called Woman, they're from Japan, and there are absolutely no effects used in achieving their eye-defying slow-mo and wiggles. (Also she's always looking for crazy dancers, so you should send her a YouTube of yourself if you've got moves and want to use them in 3-D and/or billowy black Glad trash-bag dance sequences).

OK got your red-and-blue shades? If not, Missy's site has got you covered for some DIY in three dimensions.

That was alright, yeah? Nothing crazy. Still think the best part of that song is the Ron Burgundy-esque yazz flute spicing up the verses. Missy's as yet untitled album is due 5/6 on Goldmind/Atlantic.

Did you see the parody of Saturday Night Live's popular "Night at the Roxbury" that Missy Elliot was in? Here is the behind-the-scenes video that features Missy Elliott, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes and Macy Gray. The ad premiered during the Superbowl:

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Horse Feathers - "Father"

Portland songwriter Justin Ringle's evocative vocal twang and sharp lyricism are at the center of Horse Feathers' bedroom Americana. The band's second album House With No Home, which follows 2006's Words Are Dead, finds Ringle's vision fleshed out by multi-instrumentalist/composer...
