New Mogwai Video - "Batcat"

thumbnail icon: New Mogwai Video - "Batcat"

For "Batcat," Glasgow's preeminent loud/soft/loud/soft instrumentalists give us a creepy chase scene filled with worms, flies, a dead cat, and a little girl who resembles a Renaissance painting. She's on the run from the people who stole the Knife's bird masks. As far as her soundtrack, "Batcat" comes from Mogwai's forthcoming six studio album The Hawk Is Howling. When we posted Hawk's "The Sun Smells Too Loud," I mentioned it was the album's "shimmery, slightly nostalgic pop piece." I wasn't lying. "Batcat" will give you more of an idea of what to expect musically, as far as the fuzzed-out rock anthems, at least.

The Hawk Is Howling is out 9/23 on Matador. It'll be preceded by the 3-song Bobcat EP on 9/9, also via Matador. The guys are out and about in September with Fuck Buttons:
