New Mystery Jets (Feat. Laura Marling) Video - "Young Love"

An underpraised but truly awesome track last year was Mystery Jets' hearth-friendly, retro-lovely "Flakes," which gave a taste of what Erol Alkan had in mind in producing their next LP, 21 (apparently, not a lot of prog). New single "Young Love," featuring (another!) teenage British sensation Laura Marling (odds-on favorite for "Feist of 2008"), has the band continuing to warm hearts, be it in a more upbeat, tie-died & paneled fashion. Everything from the effect on the "oohs" to the little string-attacks in the hook point the way to deepening pop smarts.

If you can't tell, we are finding ourselves really excited for the new album.

Nice tune, right day for it ... but if tonight is more about cuddling, then this is what should make your soundtrack:

Mystery Jets - "Flakes" (MP3)

Enjoy.

The 'Making Dens' LP was honestly brilliant for a debut, one of those with instantly unique songs that were obviously crafted with a lot of thought, fun and spirit. Hearing this song, watching this video, along with the beautiful 'Flakes,' I can't begin to imagine what this next LP has in store the rest of the way through. Only sad thing is the dad left the band!

that video, which i've watched like 8 times already today, makes me extraordinarily h a p p y . can't wait for the new record--all the new songs i've heard so far are a little more straight-forward and accessible (search you tube for "hand-me-down" and "hideaway"). just me or do these guys remind you a little of augie march? oh, and jeff--don't worry: henry (the dad) is still in the band, just not touring or involved in promotional stuff like videos...
