New Okkervil River Video - "Our Life Is Not A Movie Or Maybe"

Click play on the new Okkervil River vid below and you'll probably think exactly what we did: Hello advertising! Huh? Somehow "Our Life Is Not A Movie Or Maybe" got a big ol' corporate intro, but eventually we get the goods: A suicide scene in hotel room #1972, and the suits (played/worn ably by Okkervil) investigate, then become the band, then become the film crew, and then their performance is on a TV which is on a TV which is on a TV ... shit, just got dizzy. Cool clip, great song, killer record. Thanks for the video TV Guide and Capri Sun.

(Thanks for the heads up, Evan)

Set your TiVOs: Okkervil on Conan tonight!

UPDATE: Video w/out TV Guide nonsense.

i'll be damned... capri-sun brought me an OAKkervil river video

and is that how you say it? OAK-er-vil river?

i always thought it was OK-ker-vil river, since there are two 'K's.

also, that crappy-motel maid has great make-up.

Okkervil River + TV Guide Channel = ???

No disrespect towards the band, they're fantastic, but it's a weird outlet for their video...

Man! This video - it's just so...liquid cool! I hope the TV Guide Channel execs aren't mistaking this as crappy run-of-the-mill Farrelly Brothers-approved crappy alt-country rock, because this album's not deserving of that pigeonhole.

I AM thirsty for a Capri-sun now though. Too bad I'm no longer in grade school.

So do Okkervil River and Capri-sun really share a target market? Is this being played for mothers of three that are going to listen to Stage Names on their way to the store to buy juice for their kid's T-Ball party?

Love the song, these guys are great.

Not too fussed about the video though and I notice it hasn't had any affect on the people above.

Yeah. The song is excellent. I was hoping for a different video though. I like the concept of everyone watching everyone elses lives on the TV, but I don't even think that is what they were doing. I'm actually not really sure what was happening. And then they randomly added soft porn in the middle for some reason.

Cool video, and great performance on Conan last night.

And yes, it's "Ock-ervil".

Great song! I loved that Conan was so excited about their performance last night. You can always tell when he's really into a band.

Will Sheff himself pronounces it Ok-ker-vil in "Okkervil River Song." I think that is definitive enough.
