New Real Estate Live Video - "Beach Comber"
This footage of BTW Real Estate doing "Beach Comber" was captured in one continuous, brightly shadowed shot by Ray C. at the Annex, NYC on 5/27. As mentioned a ways back, the guys are a super tight live band, so the one shot approach makes good sense -- almost like a dare. A couple of weeks ago we heard an early take of the song as part of the Underwater Peoples' Summertime Showcase sampler.
The band's usual lead guitar player, Matt Mondanile, was replaced at this show by Malcolm Perkins (from Your Nature) because Matt is currently touring as Ducktails.

I realize there are only so many words in the English language with which to name a band, but guys, you couldn't find a better name than part of Sunny Day Real Estate?
It just doesn't seem right...

dont get me wrong, im a fan of real estate and ive seen em a couple times - but i don't get why theyre being hyped so much as a super tight live band. their music is super simple, and super loose - not the hardest thing to pull off live. sure, the youtube version of fake blues sounds just like the recording, but the recording sounds like it was tracked live in a garage with nothing but a room mic. am i missing something?

yes you are right SpongeBob -- they ain;t fancy but they sure sound nice/////
and they definitely aren;t even trying to be "tight" so that hype is misplaced but when they're really playing a good show it does get pretty sparkling...
