New Regina Spektor Video - "Better"

Regina's ACL set was remarkable, mostly for the deafening screams, cheers, and marriage proposals coming from the first, oh, 50 rows-or-so of Zilker Park side-stage loons during Ms. Spektor's a cappella intro. She doesn't make casual fans, she makes obsessive fanatics. Understandable, though; she's adorable, and Begin To Hope's begun to establish her as pop elite. And so, Zilker stalkers, this video is sure to please: LOTS of Reginas in black dress and voluminous curls, then lots of women dressed to look like her, plus close ups of those icy-blue, Soviet kitschy eyes. Unfortunately, no smiles quite as wide as they were that day...

But wait ... isn't this version #2? Check "Better" from May '06...

Guess the more Reginas the better? Or the more hair?

Begin To Hope is out via Sire.

better 2.0 seems just like one big hair product commercial.

Oh vey, The Jewness is overwhelming. Her mouth could swallow you whole, if her big nose didn't get in the way of it.

I'd hit it.

I definitely prefer the rocked-out version of the song from video #1 (i.e., album version). The new version sounds more like the rest of "Begin To Hope", and is probably intended to be more radio-friendly, but it was nice to have the album version with electric guitars to set it apart from the rest of the disc.

As much as I prefer the Video 2.0, the album version of the song from Video 1.0 is much, well, better. (I know, I slay myself too...) I think the new version is made to be more Anna Nalick-esque for Adult Top 40 radio plays, which I still don't know if it will get.

I think I'm the only person in the world that can't stand her "Cute innocent girl that says some dirty things sometimes to everyone's surprise" shtick.

I like how when she comes out onstage she does that whole little "Oh my god I can't believe you all came to seee meeee! I'm so surprised I thought nobody would be here!" routine.

Her songs remind me of songs kids make up while playing, peppered with a "fuck" here and there.

I can just barely get past her pronouncing "better" as "bettoh" and I still think she should do a video for 'That Time'.

"Hey, remember that time when I found a human tooth, down on Delancey..."

Definitely prefer the album mix with guitars...."better 2.0" is begging to be grocery store background music. I'll stick with the first video too...I'm a sucker for video feedback. So cheap, so fun.

Ugh, I prefer video one on so many levels. What did they do to that wonderful song in video two? And who hasn't played with a camera/TV set up like that? I used to all the time when I was little. But maybe I was just a weird kid.

Damn you VH1! You officially sanctioned the downfall of my dear Regina by playing Better (2.0) at 3:30 in the morning!
