New Röyksopp Video - "Happy Up Here"

thumbnail icon: New Röyksopp Video - "Happy Up Here"

Yesterday a fan fooled the internet with his button-eyed cartoon characters being all happy up here to Röyksopp's "Happy Up Here." As a few of you pointed out, the real version was some infinitely cooler Space Invaders-inspired madness. Thanks to commenter 1234 we've tracked it down, and it's far superior as promised, presenting a playful world where billboards birth space invaders which then destroy the city. Only cuter than that sounds. There's that Röyksopp signature happy-up-here keyboard plink tone to comport with after all.

There's only one thing on your mind now, so you're welcome.

"Happy Up Here" is out as a single on 3/9, Junior is out 3/24, both via Astralwerks.

Ahahaha! So much better. And for once you can actually hear the song clearly.

P-FUNK LIVES AGAIN. That "Röyksopp signature happy-up-here keyboard plink tone" is straight off of "Do That Stuff." this new song is cool, kinda like "eple." this new album hopefully is much better than "the understanding," which was so cheesy unlike the great "melody AM."

Cute little video, but I still think this song sounds like a remix of "Eple."

This is a very friendly track. :)
What kind of commercial do you think it will be in first?

Kudos to Royksopp for referencing the 9/11 Space Invaders video installation. It's a given that 9/11 was a horrible tragedy but I really think that the 9/11 Space Invaders is an important piece of art and the artist was very courageous. People just took it at face value as insulting or trivializing 9/11 because it looked so lighthearted. I don't want to go on a huge rant but it was deep and shit. Take the artist's word for it:

The track is a poor copy - none of the depth that the original track by Parliament(George Clinton). Album "Clones of Dr. Funkenstein", so many artists have sampled GC and his music over the years, but usually the "new generation of funketeers" are given something far, far better. Sorry guys 2/10 ... and the 2 are only for selecting a good track to re-use.
