New Snoop Dogg Video - "Sensual Seduction"

Snoop's ever-entertaining brand of Big Pot-blazed perv/pimp On Campus draws him some mentions around here from time to time, but it's been awhile since he's brought something postworthy for artistic purposes. Props to his new Shawty Redd-produced cut "Sensual Seduction" for shifting that, from hammy title to awesome, early '80s soul/funk homaging sound. There's straight early '80s in the look, too, from the shitty print to the Snoop costumery to the era-appropriate video hos (thank director Melina for that). Way to dust off that talk box, Dogg. Three words: Zapp & Roger.

Snoop's Ego Trippin' is due out in March '08 via Doggystyle/Geffen.

This is the first Snoop Dog song that I've ever enjoyed. I think I might have to get a copy and then do a Michael Showalter and hide it on my ipod under Sufjan Stevens. LOL. It really is a good tune and Snoop looks like the lead singer from Cameo in the video. WORD UP!

You were right. I like this song a lot. Funny that it took Snoop 15 years to try something interesting.

Zapp & Roger, YES! But Snoop always struck me as a "More Bounce To The Ounce" kinda guy than anything else.

The mouth tube is a vocoder; The talk box that modifies his voice. It's connected to the keyboard.

this song is really the first song ive actually enjoyed by snoop. i think possibly because i love any hip hop artist branching out into other genres. but still. i could see how older fans would hate this. im pretty sure none of the other songs on his new record will sound like this though.
