New Spoon Video - "The Underdog"

OK, so the liquifying piano bit for "The Ghost Of You Lingers" was a false alarm; here's the real deal first clip from Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Director Keven McAllester takes a Scorsese-style single-shot stroll through Spoon's recording facility, where Austinites tap out percussion parts and mariachi dudes tote trumpets. We'll never be able to listen to this song without thinking of our Score The Final Scene Of The Sopranos toy, but at least this song/visual pairing gives us the closure of seeing somebody laid out on the floor at the end.

Very retro and Billy Joel-ish. A perfect summer tune.

wow, i really like that video! it helps that the song is awesome, but it was very nicely choreographed.

of course, they could have just stuck it over the final scene of the sopranos

This is a great video for an even better song. I love the "Let it Be" vibe to the guys sitting around playing their instruments in the studio. Is this the track that Jon Brion produced?

i think that's jim fairchild, formerly of grandaddy now in all smiles, playing acoustic guitar in the main room jam.

I swear that dude in the dark suit at the beginning and playing the bottles later in the little booth is the drummer for ...Trail of Dead. Austin represent!

Don't they live in Portland now?

God I miss Austin. I'm moving back. Spoon made me.

Everytime I go back home I see Britt somewhere. Once in a Wendy's next to campus, another time at Beauty Bar (in the bathroom). Then at Kerbey Lane on Congress...
