New Spoon Video - "You Got Yr Cherry Bomb"

Continuing today's early theme of animated videos, Spoon's Double Triple & Ryan Junell-directed "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb" features a patterned land of floating light bulbs and drums, construction paper lightning, clapping hands (real and fake), a little 'c'mon' and 'huh' action (duh, it's Spoon), and stiff ladies. If you stick around long enough, there's even real-life Britt checking out what's in the fridge.

The producers describe the process: "It's a 3 minute stop-motion animation of paper cutouts done by hand and sequenced on a computer." Want to make your own? Look at the pretty behind-the-scenes stills here. Get to it, lazybones.

*heart* Spoon. the throwback style really works for them...the animation is super-clever and well-executed, but unpretentious enough to make for a fun viewing...kinda like Spoon. well done. thanks for sharing, 'gum.

it reminds me of the old elvis costello "accidents will happen" promo video for some reason.

i love "cherry bomb" and the rest of the album, btw.

another bad indie rock video that values the process of making it over the actual final product. what's so bad about performance videos??

nothing's wrong with performance videos; what's so bad about trying something new for one?

Very retro, and very fitting for the throwback Mo-town style of the track.

Best new rock video I've seen recently. Made me smile. :D

Instead of taking the easy road and making another performance video, they´ve made something full of creativity and inspiration. It made me smile as well. Good one.
