New Ssion Video - "A Wolves Eye" (Stereogum Premiere)

thumbnail icon: New Ssion Video - "A Wolves Eye" (Stereogum Premiere)

A slab of Ssion is always a great way to the end the day, so let's get into it. Ssion man Cody Critcheloe remains busy: He took a director's credit on Tilly & The Wall's Beat Control," gave his mom a punk makeover in "Ah-Ma," and later hit us with the trashy radness of "Day Job." And yet none of that prepared me for Cody's latest directorial effort, this time for Fools Gold track "A Wolves Eye," which he describes as "David Lynch-meets-Jean Paul Gaultier with a little big of Gregg Araki and the scent of Jean Paul Gaultier (that's the cologne I wear)." Incredibly, after watching it that all makes sense! The video is set to a version of the song that's slowed, compliments of J.A.M., which makes for icy synths and dark beats that fit the fireside ritualism and druid sleaze sorta perfectly. I wouldn't say this is NSFW, but we posted it late because, maybe you'll just get less questions if you watch it from home.

The track comes from Ssion's worthy Fool's Gold, out now on Sleazetone. By way of bonus, here Ssion dig their own Hole, making an electro banger from Courtney's take on Young Marble Giants' "Credit In The Straight World."

And another: Fool's Gold track "Street Jizz" gets a remix from Ian Levine (quite a Wiki, that gent), a man with Hi-NRG bona fides. Just so you sorta know what to expect:

Ssion - "Street Jizz (Ruff Ian Levine Remix)" (MP3)

That last remix comes from the forthcoming "Street Jizz" 12" -- also via Sleazetone -- including reworkings of the single from Nick Zinner, Hawnay Troof, and Krazy Fiesta. Finally, Ssion are about to make their maiden voyage to the West Coast. Sounds like they've got some multimedia treats in store. You should check 'em:

So, is the horrible grammar of the song title intentional?

Of course! An apostrophe would look horrible. SRSLY!

This video can be thought of as the invocation of the hermaphodidic, fool's gold wild-child into the Woman's womb-vessel.

The loin-clothed men are minions of the Woman in her grey ritual, the cannot soil her fertile form with their virile-bodies, and are driven mad by the desire of it.

The Woman Self-impregnates via the s'more, which is the mystic sacrament of the black Trinity.

Notice the three main sacrimental elements and their correlative power center.

1. the marshmellow of s'more, ascendant white wolfhound - the father

2. the chocolate of s'more, descendant brown wolf - the unholy spirit

3. the gram cracker of s'more, neutral tan man - the son

Watch the video again. The white dog comes from above, the brown wolf from below, the tan man comes from the middle, there essences converge into form as the s'more, which is imbibed in lustfull fornication by the Woman, so that she may bring forth the Fool's Gold. The tan man is a spirit who has decended into the realm of form, so that he may offer his cracker/body and his Kiss, which is a seal of approval from the dark makers of the pact. FIRE BURNS ALL AROUND! Beware false information and parasitic mythos!
