New Verve Video - "Rather Be"

thumbnail icon: New Verve Video - "Rather Be"

When we weighed in on the Verve's fourth album Forth we made note that "'Rather Be' doesn't do much to justify its existence, but its piano-lined gospel-tinged backup vocals have a certain appeal." Harsh? Maybe. The new video for the meandering track finds Richard Ashcroft, his crucifix necklace, and his cheekbones wandering through a forest, closing his eyes, singing, and closing his eyes some more.

It really can be a bitch finding the perfect bench.

Forth is out on the Verve's own On Our Own in the US via Megaforce/RED and internationally via EMI.

The album's called Forth, although I am also tempted to call it Fourth...as it seems more like the next in line. i'm sure it would rather be standing alone, but hey i've been waiting for new verve material forever, so i'm really happy.

Richard looks really old in this video! In a good, wise man way, ofc. Maybe 'Noise Epic' should've been the next single? Oh well, good either way.

I think this is Brandon's way of protesting being on the Verve beat. You win, Brandon!

i hated this song only because of what i read from premature evaluation. then i realized it's a great song and there's nothing to hate. long live the fucking verve.

I hope one day I can become known for one particular facial feature to the point where it must be mentioned in every article on me ever, complete with link to another article centered around the same facial feature. Can Ashcroft ever rise above his own cheekbones? Probs not.

More like those LIPS.

The Verve was my first love. They can do no wrong in my book.

This song is great... video not so much. I preferred watching Richard when he was tripping on acid.
