New Yacht Rock Episode 11: Footloose

It's 1984, and The Boy Who Dances Away Oppression starring Kevin Bacon (Jason Lee!) is on the horizon. Jimmy Buffett and his evil Margeritavillains trap Kenny Loggins so he can't record a sweet theme song. Will Michael McDonald and James Ingram arrive to cut his foot loose and save the day? There will be blood and some great lines if yah mo b checking it out below.

We missed you, Hollywood Steve.

That was demented, weird and so funny. It rocked. You should age the characters now. Buffet wants to sing country, Loggins sings New Age, Ingram has disappeared and McDonald sings covers of Motown and R&B hits.

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
