New A Place To Bury Strangers Video - "In Your Heart"

thumbnail icon: New A Place To Bury Strangers Video - "In Your Heart"

Brooklyn volume-knob maximalists A Place To Bury Strangers unleashed "In Your Heart" this summer as a primer to their appropriately billed Exploding Head LP. The two titles work in concert to locate the thrust of this track, and its video: the surging, Joy divided forward motion paired with grainy band clips, smoked sets, and shadowplay is resoundingly bleak (and hella loud), but it's all tempered with luscious, high-def swirls of dye, suggesting it's not just your cranium they're trying to detonate. Because, you lie.

Exploding Head is out 10/6 via Mute.

LOL. Why do new 'Shoegaze' bands try so hard? I just don't think they get it.

Why the snobbery from the "I-only-love-old-shoegaze" crowd? I happen to love APTBS and can't wait for the new album. Thanks, stereogum!

Don't get me wrong, I Iike old and new Shoegaze, but the genre went from innovation to immitation. I just wish there was more innovation.

Have you listened to a whole album by them? I've got it and I don't hear imitation - they have a very distinctive sound and feel...guess we have to agree to disagree.

Have you listened to more than this one song? I've got the ST and I don't hear imitation - they have a very distinctive sound and feel...almost metal/shoegaze. Anyway, I guess we have to agree to disagree.

Yes! Nice new stuff! I'm stoked about the new album and so are a lot of others. I don't get the hatred on this board. JAMC is one of my all time favorites and Yeah I'm old enough to remember when Psychocandy came out. So what... APTBS is keeping it going. So STFU and have fun in suburbia with your 2.5 kids.

Wow were all the Joy Division allusions intentional or just coincidental? "Joy Divided" "Shadowplay" This band really reminds of Joy Division in a really good way. They're highly talented and hopefully they'll stick around for awhile

They're not a "new" band as you put it,,,,they've been around for a few years actually....think before you speak.

Why is the sound so crappy on their videos? I think I could like em but if their album is mixed as muddy as their videos it aint happenin
