New Atmosphere Video - "Shoulda Known"
Hey, another video that could double as an American Apparel ad ... but this one's darker. Last time we heard from Atmosphere, Slug and Ant were on a Fresh Prince-inspired "Sunshine" tip, but the Zia Sunseri-directed video from the Minneapolis duo's sixth album When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold is more an insular downer. Fitting nicely with the album title, it opens focused on a woman wearing tight gold shorts, before moving into a stylized tale of drug addiction, American Flag bikinis, and girl-on-girl action. OK, we realize there's a moral here, but it doesn't seem like that was at the top of the director's checklist.
See that, she was left in the end ... and her girlfriend has her whole life ahead of her. Don't do drugs. Unless you want your life to look like a Suicide Girls bit. So you don't forget it, please accept this take-away version:

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the one time you can properly refernce somebody on drugs during the video, Heh. I know Slug likes this video, because there is a lesson tacked at the end of the video.

i sure hope someone had to write the eurythmics a check for nicking the bassline and drums sounds from, "somebody told me" off of sweet dreams. oh, quite the killer video.

Those were generic synthesizer sounds even when the Eurythmics used them back when. Whoever made this beat is probably just using the same synth or a software emulation.
Score = 1
nothing generic about a rare movement drum computer and the unique programming right down to the piano flourish. listen to the original and compare. it's like a fingerprint.

anyone know who the girls names where?

Atmosphere's press kit was singularly terrible. They actually sent out lemons painted gold. By the time it got to the office, it smelled terrible and was so moldy no one would touch it.
