New Björk (Feat. Antony Hegarty) Video - "The Dull Flame Of Desire"
If you recall, there was a fan-made video contest for Björk's "Innocence." Well, turns out there was more than one winner: The contest's three runners up were called back to help with the video for "The Dull Flame of Desire." Each got to handle 1/3 of the clip. As bjork.com notes:
Björk and Antony performed against green screen in New York then each director was sent the raw footage to edit and create their piece. Christoph Jantos (Berlin) Masahiro Mogari (Tokyo) and Marçal Cuberta Junca (Girona) are the chosen directors. Each director was given their own section of the film, to develop how they wished - on completion the 3 films were edited together in London to make the final music video.
As far as the song itself, even most Volta detractors agreed "Dull Flame" was one hell of a standout. Remember, beneath Björk and Antony's duet, that's Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale on the tribal, continually escalating drums.
Interesting fact: The lyrics are from a translation of a Fyodor Tyutchev poem, which appears in Tarkovsky's Stalker (thanks, bjork.com). Also of note: The single, out 9/22, includes two remixes from Modeselektor, one by Mark Stent, and an "Innocence" remix by Sinden. Disappointing video for the best track off Volta. Dull Flame deserved the video treatment that Wanderlust got.
