New CocoRosie Video - "Rainbowarriors"

For their latest effort, CocoRosie have infused their off-kilter sonic collages with a touch of novelty hip-hop cadence and Beck-ish beat appropriation, both of which color their single "Rainbowarriors." One part faux-stach, two parts French fashion, and a glittery dance-off kicker.

If you haven't heard the album that NY Mag calls "more than just the freak-folk album of the year ... it’s the album that will make you care about freak folk in the first place," stream it here.

Now do you care about freak folk?

The Adventures of Ghosthorse And Stillborn is available on Touch & Go.

that is the frenchiest piece of shiznit I've heard/seen in seventeen minutes or so. seriously.

does france truly exist or is it a construct of the half-awake mind trying to see past the eye-boogers into a brand new, croissant-filled morning?

Don't mind me. I'm still trying to get over the whole Don Ho thing.

Gee -- why such mean spiritedness? Coco Rosie are amazingly talented. Its a beautiful recording too.

It's OK, but nowhere near the intensity of "By Your Side."

The dude with the moustache is hot though. Who is he?

He is a SHE, I think.. and its one (or both) of the CocoRosie girls.

And I've heard better songs from them.

Think this is ridiculous now? Think how bad this will seem and how hard you'll laugh 10 years from now.

Freak Folk is being thrown around loosely. This isn't folk at all. Its embarassing to music.

The only thing i've ever heard from them that was worth anything was their cover of Damien Jurado's Ohio. That song alone suckered me into buying two of their albums. No more, though. I agree that we'll be chuckling and embarrased about this in 10 years.

That was very bad. I've heard a few songs from their previous album and liked them, but this was... a mixture of sub-par hip-hop music and gestures. It sounded like an Alanis Morrisette B-side, which is ok if you like Alanis but I don't.
