New Cursive Video - "From The Hips"

thumbnail icon: New Cursive Video - "From The Hips"

Amrit was so into Cursive's Letterman performance of "From The Hips" that he had to take a shower after watching it. The Michael Grodner-directed video for Mama, I'm Swollen's single affixes a playful storyline to the resurgent Cursive's raw energy: We get a male and a female caught up in over-thinking and over-playing their assumed societal roles. Once they realize a spontaneous roll in the hay is the closest thing to being born again and equal to a trip around the sun (at least according to Tim Kasher), they break from bourgeois routine and aim for animal magnetism. That's when some people do, indeed, get swollen.

Mama, I'm Swollen is out via Saddle Creek. Don't forget the title track.

Our hips said it all... but seriously, The Creator of The Hills created this video? So MTVish... by the way, is the main character pregnant? (And I'm not talking about the girl)

I was kind of glad it wasn't some emaciated hipster with hair all over his eyes. Nothing wrong with a little paunch.

Every Cursive record to come out after The Ugly Organ has been sub-par. Sorry to get so real on your asses.

Anyone else catch one of the extras wearing a "Paddy's Irish Pub" Tee? Homage to Sunny, perhaps?

Good video for the song, i didn't think it'd be good at first but it worked out well.

I never thought I'd be a fanboy, but you've gotta check out this link too- there's a link to live SXSW footage which totally rocked my socks off: http://meaningfuldistraction.com/2009/03/26/musical-distraction-cursive-love/

get real on our asses? if Real Talk was a real music fan, he or she would know that good bands don't make the same album twice. that's called resting on your laurels. and if Real Talk was a real Cursive fan he wouldn't post stupid comments like that. Sure it's a free country he/she can post whatever they want but it shows you just want some attention. you are jealous that Cursive made another great album and Stereogum likes it. just listen to the album fuck head i know you haven't and go see them live and you will see they are still one of the best rock bands out there. one who actually knows how to play their instruments and write memorable songs with interesting lyrics that are challenging. now you made me feel like an attention whore and now i feel dirty. and dont be a hater. why is it cool to be a hater? what have you done? nothing i bet.

Is this the song they played on Letterman several days ago? I remembered the song having this amazing climax at the end. White dudes with afros still scare me.
