New Empire Of The Sun Video - "Without You"

thumbnail icon: New Empire Of The Sun Video - "Without You"

EOTS/ex-Sleepy Jackson man Luke Steele has the hook on The Blueprint 3's opening salvo "What We Talkin' About" because Jay-Z loves his indie. On cue to capitalize on that leak, Luke's released the fourth in a string of high-concept videos, this time taking the Empire out of the sun and going all-out post-Bowie on a set full of statues and feasts and iced blue hues.

It's looking more and more like EOTS is down one Nick Littlemore; according to various reports he's either in NYC working on the next PNAU record or just no longer in Empire. Or it could be both? We'll see.

Walking On A Dream is out.

I hope Littlemore didn't quit. :[ I don't get how Without You relates to the other videos. I love how they remixed it. Hopefully they release this version.

This is absolute trash. Not only did they steal many of their songs from an Australian artist, they are not musicians. They are making ridiculous attempts to catch people's eye by dressing like space bowie. They are gonna fade... fast.

This artist reminds me of Fischerspooner, which isn't a good thing.

I don't buy it. This guy isn't selling the persona, it comes up short and feels like a parody. The music is flat with no emotion, but maybe that's what he was going for.

Did anyone notice that this version of "Without You" is different from the one on the CD? This is a lot more upbeat and better overall. Anyone know where to find it?

Kids today.
Seriously, if your knowledge of Bowie comes from "Labyrinth" and "Flight of the Conchords," you're missing the point. And the music, of course, is nothing like Bowie. It's like a Howard Jones song, something buried on the third record (if there was one).

It's 'bands' like this which are to blame for the currently poor quality output of Australian pop music. Along with Sneaky Sound System, Potbelleez et al.
Banal and watered down...
C'mon Aussie, c'mon.

Joining the choir: I do not like this. This sort of glittery neo-glam-look annoys the hell out of me, and most of the bands who employ the look or sound I find dull and/or obnoxious... Wild Beasts often being an exception.
