New Empire Of the Sun Video - "Standing On The Shore"

thumbnail icon: New Empire Of the Sun Video - "Standing On The Shore"

Picking up where "We Are The People" left off, sort of, Empire Of The Sun's new video is another desert-set, MGMT-aestheticized romp through a bizzaro dimension where bros have lightning bolt eyes and platinum blondes have dolphin faces. Sleepy Jackson's Luke Steele gets resurrected, harnesses the power of the gods, and eviscerates the evil-doers (they're wearing red, that's how you know). File under: electronic dance music, Dune, Tatooine, art school.

Empire Of The Sun's Walking On A Dream is out. As for "We Are The People," this interactive video lets you play with their balls! Good clean fun. And here's a remix.

How can anyone perform in a video like that with a straight face? Drugs. Lots and Lots of drugs.

I'm sorry, but I really hate it when people compare bands. MGMT and Empire of the Sun are nothing alike IMO aside from being an electro-duo and having campish fashion tastes. They're both awesome but not alike.

I love EOTS's videos they're so beautiful. Josh Logue (director) is awesome.

i'm all in favor of taking a band's work for what it is and not trying to specify their sound but i think it's hard not to compare mgmt and empire of the sun. it's definitely not just the number of people in the band or aesthetics that make the two similar. synth psych with similar vocals stylings. it also doesn't help that they both found some fame right around the same time.

Their album cover and videos are kind of awesome and have been praised on a number design/art direction websites. That's a tough crowd to impress. Standing on the Shore is lacking in production value, but still fun and entertaining.

this mite be because of their budget, but it seems a bit poorly executed and cheesy. but yeah, i guess psychedelic effects are quite expensive

The Song is alright, but the video is kind of weird.

I like the beat.
