New Foo Fighters Video - "Wheels"

thumbnail icon: New Foo Fighters Video - "Wheels"

This represents what should be the last stop on "Wheels"' launch cycle. A very typical launch cycle, which included a debut on the White House front lawn, inclusion on a Greatest Hits set, and full-on Tom Petty derivation. America. The song's clip set in a massive "Wheels" house doesn't do much to introduce you to elements of the Foos you didn't already know -- they like to rock, they can afford practice spaces the size of airport hangers (with better furnishing) and camera tricks that subtly incorporate outdoor imagery into indoor scenery -- so, basically: safe, comfy, sorta retrospective. But then a Greatest Hits bonus cut isn't meant to rattle any wheels.

Foo Fighters' Greatest Hits is out 11/2.

Just watched the video this morning and wasn't particularly impressed. Yawn.

Um.. does anyone else realize how much it sounds like Freefallin by Tom Petty during the verse? And when did the Foo Fighters become the band we used to escape from by listening to the Foo Fighters?

I meant to say it sounds like "Learning to Fly" by Tom Petty :)

No matter the genre they play, I love what Grohl does to it: the twists and turns, the alternative routes. This is more interesting than anything Tom Petty has ever done. It's more distorted/feedback than that other nerd would ever do in a song.

That's not ALWAYS the case, people forget that "Bring On the Dancing Horses" was written as an addition for the "Songs to Learn & Sing" compilation.

At first i thought it was one of those "meh", bland Foo Fighters songs but it's growing on me...
