New Gnarls Barkley - "Who's Gonna Save My Soul"

While most of you are sleeping or busy deciding how much money to give Trent for his trouble, ?uestlove is over in his corner of the internet keeping us awake by surreptitiously leaking a new Gnarls Barkley single and not-so-surreptitiously calling you a dumb ass parrot:

most idiots will probably be on some "scoff...this aint no CRAZY"--well you dumb ass parrots--this to me digs deeper. and what an apt title The Odd Couple: a very dense dark atmospheric moody templet just dramatic enough for the last great living and WORKING soul singer under 40 and the most creative and intuitive producer maniac music has seen in a sec.

thanks fellas for giving me the honor.

Told ya. But it's not just a straight track replay here. With the help of Thelma Schoonmaker's editing (on nine shots of Patron), Ahmir offers up a color-saturated clip featuring half his face lip-syncing to the downcast and cavernous vintage soul cut.

We like this side of ?uest's webcamming more than of days past. Sweet and nocturnal cut, too; Ahmir knew the right time of day to leak it. The Odd Couple is out 4/8 on Downtown.

Hmmm not quite feeling this one, but the album may bring something interesting to the table.

Not really into this one so far.. maybe it's a grower?
I have utter faith in gnarles Barkley though so it probably is.

I like the late 60s/ early 70s R&B feel to Cee Lo's vocals. This first song though lacks a a little something. I am sure they have a few other tracks up their sleeve, so this mild dissappointment will fade.

I love how all you Gnarls Barkley bandwagon trumpeteers are too hesitant to call this song exactly for what it is: absolute garbage. There is nothing noteworthy or engaging whatsoever about this joint, and to predict that the "straight fire" that they are "bound to bring" on the rest of their sophomore record is, at best, ridiculously absurd. Glad to see DangerMouse truckin' along as the most overrated, excessively name-dropped marquee banner in hip-hop doing it big with one of the frailest and most soulless voices of our generation.

Maybe Danger Mouse was too focused on helping the black keys make the best album of '08.

Snoresville.

?uest's reaction to 2girls/1cup from a month or so ago however, was hilarious.

notice how ?uest compliments Cee-Lo, calling him,
"the last great living and WORKING soul singer under 40".
he put "WORKING" in capitals...definitely a slick reference/diss to D'Angelo.

Seriously 'gum, are you guys going to reference Quest's mopey more-than-a-year-old video EVERY time you mention him? It's getting more than a little old.

The comment right there is pretty funny, to me. It's funny how I read blogs and people really try to ram their opinion down peoples throats, ALL THE FUCKING TIME, even ?uestlove's mini rant is a bit much. No need to call names cuz someone doesn't agree with YOUR opinion of something. Time to grow-up, people, and realize that not everyone thinks and lives like your self centered selves.
I do agree that this song is possibly one of the greatest songs to come out in recent times. I have it on repeat, now. Luvin' Cello's singing on it and it has a sound THAT I LIKE. Very blues-esque and introspective. I thought it shoulda been the first single over Run. I just hope that the video is really effective and poignant. I have a about 4 diff. vids in my head for this song, maybe 7, now that I think of it, but a few would need a more "TV friendly" ending.
