New HEALTH Video - "Die Slow"

thumbnail icon: New HEALTH Video - "Die Slow"

On the eve of a pair of Los Angeles shows in support of Nine Inch Nails, recently remixed noise-rockers HEALTH have released a self-directed video for Get Color standout "Die Slow." (It just dawned on me: The song opens with the staccato feel of Big Black rewritten for synthesizer before it transitions into dark-wave territory.) The pulsating, ultimately bloody clip overlays footage of the band rocking out, fashionable girls dancing, bodies writhing all over the place Roman orgy-style, and a zillion flashes. In the spirit of the quartet's Golden Ticket Sweepstakes, they also manage to work in a phone number, an infomercial's blank stare, and cheeky ordering instructions.

Get Color is out next week (9/8) via Lovepump. As mentioned, the guys hit the road tomorrow. The first two shows are with NIN, the rest with Pictureplane.

Initial reactions: I'm having a seizure. Isn't this the Caprica pilot? Oh, it's Blade.

For a band made video this was actually really cool. I also thought the last frame was really funny.

Can someone please explain this band to me?! I just don't get it. This is one of the few bands I have never understood the hype. Apart from that, I really loved the video aside from the seemingly unnecessary violence in the end. Well, I liked everything except for the part where the singer is shown; for some reason, I wanted to annihilate him.

Well they're just a band that uses loud noises and strange timbres to create cool rock songs. I don't know what else there is to explain.

OH, well, I guess I just think it sucks then. Although I do love the statue-like girls in the vid; HOTZZ

I long for the days when ritual sacrifice was mentioned in a non-ironic context by scary Norwegian dudes that sounded like the Cookie Monster. Now every hipster thinks it's cool to sacrifice people to Sheetar.

Great album btw.

it's actually pretty cool, but, seriously, it sounds like stabbing westward.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Mid-90s industrial revival!

holy crap, yeah! i was trying to place them.

Stabbing Westward had some decent moments (Ungod, WBB&P, Darkest Days was alright)

I'm looking forward to this album!
