New Lavender Diamond Video - "Open Your Heart"

Amazing that we haven't got around to mentioning Becky Stark (aka Lavender Diamond) since February of last year, but sometimes the blog pile gets to be an unruly mess. The first vid from Imagine Our Love delivers all you need to know about Becky, namely that she's constantly dangling on the precipice of over-preciousness; her best charm is that she makes it work (mostly). We finally had the chance to check Lavender live during an intimate show at the the bizarre, beautiful Gramercy Arts Club, where Becky's recounting a cab ride from Chelsea to Brooklyn was nearly as amusing as her open hearted, optimistic songs. Sia (yes that Sia) directed the "Open Your Heart" clip and helps make sure Lavender Diamond falls on the right side of the too-cute divide.

Wonder how many times she biffed it during the shoot? I wasn't wasn't sensing "skate confidence."

I hate eggs.

haha.. oh man.. I saw "Lavender Diamond" live last year... honest to God, it reminded me of when my cousin got drunk at her own wedding and tried to sing, mic in hand, in front of the cover band.. a combination of sheer terror and embarrasment filled the room. This video, and their live performance, brings me right back to that terrible night.

this is too similar to Feist's "1234" video, but the song is good.
