New Music Tapes Video - "For The Planet Pluto"
Julian Koster has a specific vision and saw-singing sound for The Music Tapes, so you shouldn't be too surprised by much of what goes on in the Pluto-homaging "For the Planet Pluto" video. It features background vocals by fourth graders from Barrow Elementary School in Athens, Georgia and stars Major Organ And The Adding Machine's Kiran Fernandes and Sophie Fernandes. Speaking of organs, you'll also spot Kevin Barnes playing "The Slightly Sinister Father."

I think this really shows how great the Music Tapes are. Julian Koster took Pluto, elementry kids, singing saws, and acting and made it all into a great video and song! I really wish more people would listen to this guy.

was just thinking how I equate that singing saw frequency of his with McGuinn's rickenbocker sound somehow...it's one of those all time classic sounds when I think about it...

Keep your chin up Pluto, when you grow up you'll be a real planet.

Pluto IS still a real planet. Only four percent of the International Astronomical Union voted on the controversial demotion, and most are not planetary scientists. Their decision was immediately opposed by hundreds of professional astronomers in a formal petition led by Dr. Alan Stern, Principal Investigator of NASA's New Horizons mission to Pluto. This is still very much an ongoing debate. There are many people, both professionals and lay people, who are either ignoring the IAU decision or are working actively to get it overturned.
