Old Folks Review MGMT's "Kids" Video

thumbnail icon: Old Folks Review MGMT's "Kids" Video

For every person that loved Ray Tintori's video for MGMT's "Kids," there were two therapists sending their contact info to the monster-terrorized child's mom. The little tyke looked terrified! So the old folks at Breakfast At Sulimay's just filmed a very special video-review segment of their show, applying their usual brand of bran-muffin music crit to this Oracular Spectacular comment-baiting clip. Ann, Bill, and Joe are in agreement on this one. Ann's face says it all. Joe could "find no value in it at all," but that's probably because he didn't realize the mom is played by Joanna Newsom at first, either.

For the record, the band promises "no children were harmed in the making" of the video. But also, nobody defined "harmed."

Bill doesn't approve of child abuse, but spousal abuse is just fine.

They do! They did a review of a song off of Ys a few months ago. They...didn't enjoy it.

I read that Robin of the Fleet Foxes was influenced by Odessy and Oracle...It's not obvious but I can hear it I suppose...

Hahaha! "Where did THEY come from?" Wow I almost completely forgot about this video. Ann pretty much mimicked my exact reaction. But, wait - she "went to different schools" "together" with Mark Twain? I am so confused.

- 'Mark Twain, I don't remember him saying that. We went to different schools together.'

Uhum... what!?

She got the first part right tho, that's a Nietzche quote, not a Mark Twain one.

I seem to recall that Twain aped it from Nietzche and quoted it somewhere, but I could be making that up.

when the dog shows up, Ann says, "my husband! did you see Bob?" -
The only thing that surprises me here is that she's not a crazy cat woman.

Before I even spend my seven minutes and change watching this, is there any reason for me not to?

I think Joe is by far the best part of this video series. After that Ann bitch stopped screaming at each of the hundred monsters in the video, he actually said something relevant. How often do you hear something relevant on Youtube? what a bamf

What kind of a show is this, anyway? Doesn't the audience seem a bit incongruous?

Hey, at least these are old folks. I don't see any reason this video can't be done with special effects technology that's been available for many, many years now. The same way they make Brad Pitt age backwards in Benjamin Button. This blog seems cool, though. Old people rock. At least they didn't see the video and say, "The pictures... they're coming ALIVE!!!" :)
