Orleans (D)

Now that yesterday's results have been tabulated, it's clear there's a political power shift underway. Maybe this suits you, maybe this makes you want to move to Canada (they do have awesome indie rock there). Either way, it's not Stereogum's style to get involved in politics, but when the man behind some of our all-time guilty pleasures (like "Still The One" and "Dance With Me") wins a seat, well censors be damned, we gotta say, "Congratulations, John Hall!"

Orleans - "Still The One" (Live) (MP3)

How are you not gonna vote for that man? And who knew Colbert sang such spot on harmony?! Dude can sing and make us laugh -- we're totally on board for Stewart/Colbert in '08.

Hilarious. I've already watched it six times in the last 2 minutes.

The Better Know a District series is one of the more hilarious bits on the Colbert Report.

Even more hilarious is that supposedly all the candidates Stephen talked to actually won a seat. Awesome.

I saw this last night and at first I laughed. But, as they went along - I started to get a little teary eyed. It ended up being quite the moment. And yea, who knew Colbert could sing that well?
Did he ever sing with Carell while they were on TDS? You can buy Stewart/Colbert '08 shirts at http://www.bustedtees.com/shirt/stewartcolbert/

This is excellent. I have an Orleans LP at home with one of the greatest album covers ever. Turns out it made this dude's worst album covers list:

It's even better in person.
