Pastor Of Muppets

Nick Jr.'s new indie-oriented kids program Yo Gabba Gabba! premieres on August 20th. The Shins, Smoosh, and Stereofaves Cornelius and the Postmarks frolicking with tiny puppets, Chad VanGaalen animation, Biz Markie, Mark Mothersbaugh, Leto-nemesis Elijah Wood, and host DJ Lance Rock (some excitable dude toting a huge boom box) is a cool way to impart "simple life lessons" and not bad fodder for fans of the Garden State Soundtrack. But in all honesty, we prefer the brutal death-metal enunciations of Beaker and his shaggy backing band... (via Deciblog)

How about gaggles of Fraggles rocking the Locust's "Twenty Three Lubed Up Schizophrenics With Delusions Of Granduer," you say? That's a great idea!

Sure, these videos are from last year, but beyond the raw adrenaline of the clips themselves, the witty "Pastor Of Muppets" title via the folks over at Deciblog (and Band Of Horses) had us thinking of Fischerspoonerisms, a musical game we were trying to figure out recently: Basically, band names, song titles, or album titles that involve spoonerisms. (Fittingly, the Muppets' 1972 film The Frog Prince, involves a princess cursed by a spell that forces her to speak only in Spoonerisms. See, "Pastor Of Muppets" teaches "little life lessons," too!)

So, as we banged our heads along with Animal's drum rolls, we wracked our brains:

  • Metallica and the Cows' Cunning Stunts
  • Smog's Dongs of Sevotion
  • NOFX's Punk in Drublic
  • Okay, maybe spoonerisms are best left to the Capital Steps.

I clicked on the Leto vs. Everyone thing and god that was funny. Especially all the comments on the Best Week Ever blogs by the teenagers blinded by lust!

I think Muppet Bolt has a slight advantage here.

I always wanted to start a band name Course Hawk.
My inability to play an instrument was a major stumbling block. Also, my monotone singing was a pretty large setback as well. Nonetheless, Course Hawk is a great name. However, it's only the second best band name I've ever come up with.
The winner, hands down, Conjugal Baby. I only mention it cuz I've told dozens of musicians about it and I know one of them is eventually gonna steal it. Now it's in the universe forever with my name attached. I am one petty little man.
