Phish Cover TV On The Radio A month ago they did the Stones' Exile On Main St. cover-to-cover, but the Vermont jam-scene mascots' ever-expanding songbook got a contemporary shot in the arm via this weekend's "Golden Age." Here's the chorus and here's the jam. (Thanks for the tip, Vijay.)

I can just hear the indie snobs groaning now. I wish they did more covers of modern music that deserves recognition.
Score = -2
or they could just write some music that deserves recognition.

Why is it cool to bash a talented group of musicians who have a number of excellent compositions under their belt because they jam? Have you no patience? Have you ever actually listened to this band?
Anyway phish doing a TVOTR cover fits. However, they could tear your head off with their version of "cities."

Being a talented musician doesn't make you a great songwriter. Phish is the prime example of that.

They've been doing contemporary covers forever and a nice variety, as well- anything from Ween's "Roses are Free" (which started when the song was newer, still a staple cover for them) to "99 Problems" by Jay-Z...Trey played Radiohead's "Knives Out" at a solo gig years ago and Page offered a cover of "Subterranean Homesick Alien" with Vida Blue.
Trey's been a big Pavement fan from day one so indie snobs betta check themselves...

Phish actually played Gold Soundz in 99... pretty weak cover, but if they had really practiced it it could've been good...

hmmm... I love TVOTR and I have to say that this does not sound like any TVOTR song I've ever heard. This sounds like every other boring, pointless Phish jam.

I just came to laugh at people who think that liking a Lollapalooza band gives them enough underground cred to bash another band's music.

I came to laugh at the people that like Phish.

It's pretty obvious to me now that nobody is capable of covering TVOTR.
