Coldplay "Chinese Sleep Chant"s On Kimmel ... From The Future

thumbnail icon: Coldplay "Chinese Sleep Chant"s On Kimmel ... From The Future

Previously on Viva La Vida: Commenter Jenn mentions Coldplay played "Lovers In Japan" for the Jimmy Kimmel show, which doesn't even air until tonight. Holy Hoffs-Drawlar funeral parlor, Jenn. We dug around on YouTube some and found more of Coldplay's flash-forwarding, namely the first-ever live performance of "Chinese Sleep Chant," of which we heard a slice in that giggly EPK and I said "sounds promising." Promise delivered:

Let the Radiohead comparisons begin T minus 3...2...

According to the wiki.coldplaying.com, "Chinese Sleep Chant"'s will be a hidden track, coming after "Yes." Coldplays Kimmel tonight. Expect "Viva La Vida" or "Violet Hill."

Chord progression sounds like Some Might Say by Oasis.

radiohead? are you kidding me? more like U2 without all the bravado/bono's ostentatious hand gestures.

are they really going to wear those lame revolutionary outfits throughout the entire promotion of this album? these guys just keep making stupid cheesy decision after stupid cheesy decision. this songs seems bland....oh they finally figured out how to 'rock' a guitar?

and radiohead? please, not even close. maybe something from the early 90's by a re-hashed britpop band.

vida la viva is the best song, 42 is pretty great too, strawberry swing is the 3rd best. otherwise, radiohead can get the job done better.

This almost makes up for the lack of a lost write-up.

if they gave us *anything* more than 10 seconds of Pixies -- awesome as it was to see/hear Jack driving to 'em -- there would have been a post. is it january yet?

Radiohead? Really? Where?...Well maybe the vocals a bit, but that par for the course with C. Martin.
Anyways, I like what I can hear of the song

Considering it is a recording off a phone or something, I think it sounds great. Just another reason to anticipate he album.

Exactly, les, MBV. You guys keep comparing them to Radiohead, but as far as "Chinese Sleep Chant" goes, anybody who's ever listened to My Bloody Valentine will INSTANTLY recognize the similiarities to MBV. Of course, Chris Martin alrady admitted it, and the album version sounds like Coldplay found an old unreleased MBV track and just decided to make it a hidden track.
