Ryan Adams Plays Five New Ones At The Fillmore

thumbnail icon: Ryan Adams Plays Five New Ones At The Fillmore

Holy shit, a post about Ryan Adams's music. The Cardinals played a show at the Fillmore in San Francisco this past Saturday night, as a warmup for a crop of dates opening for the Gallagher brothers. Since Ry promised not to play "Wonderwall" at those upcoming Oasis shows, he made sure to play it in SF, along with five new songs. Of those, three have made it to YouTube: "Ever-Green," which sits on the Cold Roses/Deadheaded side of the oeuvre, "Like Yesterday," which has some '70s AM gold to the harmonies (filtered through to sound a little like Midlake, actually), and the definite Best of The Bunch "Cobwebs," which we saw on Foggy at one point, and closed the show.

"Like Yesterday"

"Ever-Green"

"Cobwebs"

You've heard his "Wonderwall" before, but here it is because the audio's nice.

"Wonderwall"

Enjoy the setlist. Coming soon to a bookstore near you.

I agree. People can say what they want about his music, or their taste in it, but as far as keeping a fan base entertained, there aren't many comparisons these days. And by being one of the most taper-friendly artists (allowing it, changing setlists, jamming, etc.) out there, I think he'll (they'll) continue to be successful through any "CD-sale drought". Plus, these new songs rock.

I just love him. Even if he is borderline insane.

SO BEST. There is no need for an opening band when RA & the Cardinals play two sets +encore.
