Talkin' 'Bout My Generation

Sometime in the past day or two, The Zimmers, fronted by 90-year-old Alf, crossed into the realm of net sensation with their cover of the Who's "My Generation." And you don't know what those lyrics mean until a group of senior citizens shout 'em out.

The made-for-documentary band is the subject of a BBC special slated for May, orchestrated by Tim Samuels, whose M.O. was to recruit "isolated and lonely old people -- those who can't leave their flats or who are stuck in rubbish care homes" and "stick it back to the society that's cast them aside by forming a rock troupe and trying to storm into the pop charts." The Zimmers recorded at Abbey Road and had U2/The Cure producer Mike Hedges in the control room. Sure we'll have a swooning message from Pete on InTheAttic.tv soon enough.

The MySpace circle of life: From the world's oldest rock band, to the "youngest girl pop group in the history of music."

At first, I thought it was going to be Limp Bizkit's "My Generation". This one is actually cool.

Like an old Pepsi commercial from the 90s.
Oh snap.
