The Police Kick Off The Reunion In Canada

Thanks to the band's 30th anniversary and Sting's bountiful yogic exercises (yoga kills the ego, ya know), the Police have set aside their personality clashes and embarked on their first tour since '83, starting with a 21-song fan-club/friends-only "dress rehearsal" for 4,000 or so in Vancouver Sunday night. As Andy promised, the setlist is full of vintage hits with no new tunes to dampen the reunion mood, with "Murder By Numbers" and "Next To You" perhaps the most left-field choices. Here's the best vid we could find on the night, Synchronicity's "Walking In Your Footsteps."

Tough to argue with this setlist.

The Police @ The GM Place, Vancouver, Canada 5/27/07 SETLIST
01 “Message in a Bottle”
02 “Synchronicity II”
03 “Don’t Stand So Close to Me”
04 “Voices Inside My Head” > “When the World Is Running Down”
05 “Spirits in the Material World”
06 “Driven to Tears”
07 “Walking on the Moon”
08 “Truth Hits Everybody”
09 “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”
10 “Wrapped Around Your Finger”
11 “The Bed’s Too Big Without You”
12 “Murder by Numbers”
13 “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da”
14 “Invisible Sun”
15 “Walking in Your Footsteps”
16 “Can’t Stand Losing You”
17 “Roxanne”
18 “King of Pain”
19 “So Lonely”
20 “Every Breath You Take”
21 “Next to You”

That looks like the "Yankee Line up" of setlists! "Message In A Bottle" = Johnny Damon. “The Bed’s Too Big Without You” = Melky Cabrera.

No "Miss Gradenko"? Dang. But I'll find anything to complain about, since I can't afford to part with any vital organs in order to afford tickets.

I really want them to play Bring on the Night when I see them but I know that they won't. Sigh.

He's still the best and they're still incredible as a musical team. UNREAL. If you've seen 'em, you know what I mean.

Caught the show last night in Seattle and it wasn't the setlist that was hot, it was what they did to the songs! Some purists may not like it but I thought it was kicking. I posted a full review on my blog at http://isorski.blogspot.com/
