This Specials Moment From Glastonbury Brought To You By Lily Allen

We didn't make the train to Glastonbury this year (soon we promise, loyal UK readers), but it's not like the Brit press is lacking for coverage. From what we can tell, there was lots of rain, no Libertines reunion, and friends say Björk and !!! slayed. So, just like a really rainy Coachella, then. Love oversimplifying.

To continue with our tenuously connecting Glastonbury to recent US fests, Lily's set this past weekend seemed a nice follow-up to her Jäger-fueled banter at Bonnaroo, where she said something to the effect of "I think the Specials are the greatest band in the world, and if you don't like it, you can suck my frock" (again, not an exact quote) -- before launching into the ska revivalists' "Gangsters." Lily repeated the feat at Glasto (as she does often on tour), only this time she was joined by former Specials singer Terry Hall and singer/guitarist Lynval Golding for the tune, the first time the pair shared a stage in over 22 years. Quite a Specials moment, eh? Enjoy.

that's crazy about the specials...
I love those guys..
The incarnation of the group that was touring on in 98' dragged me and my friends backstage cause I was wearing a coventry city jersey(english footie). Lynval came up to me so excited earlier that day shouting "Go Coventry". Awesome guys and they brought us up on stage for "Ghost Town" in Asbury Park. An amazing moment..I think it's time for a proper reunion.

This TOTALLY made my day... such a great version and Terry Hall still sounds great.

I love the shot of billy bragg rocking out on the side of the stage.

A Specials reunion would be amazing... I say a Specials/Led Zeppelin reunion.

Hey, what's with the fake YouTube? Screencap used as link instead of embedded video??
As for the vid itself, the performance was good. But what was with the singer? He either didn't want to be there or looked awfully worried about something...

No troubles Amrit. I was just curious as it threw me for a loop for a few seconds when I clicked the play button and stereogum disappeared.

um, it's Terry Hall, a legend. and still sexy.
I can't believe someone is referrring to him as "the singer".
I mean, MUSHTAQ??? they rocked as did The Colourfield
in the beginning. Get schooled.
