TV On The Radio Bring "Dancing Choose" To Letterman's Fire Escape

thumbnail icon: TV On The Radio Bring "Dancing Choose" To Letterman's Fire Escape

It was a tumultuous week at NY's Ed Sullivan Theater. Bill Clinton stopped by Monday (LOL @ Chris Rock afterward) and on Wednesday John McCain canceled at the last minute because the economy exploded. The high-profile week of musical chairs was capped off with TV On The Radio & Friends' horny, wordy "Dancing Choose," an appropriately anxious soundtrack for a country lobotomized by the media. The Friday night edition of the Hello Deli Concert Series was actually filmed on Monday, but by now you should know to expect the unexpected from this talk show.

TV On The Radio - "Dancing Choose (Prefuse 73 Remix)" (MP3)

Dear Science (yes David, that's the title) is out now via Interscope.

this band has its moments, some decent songs (more a singles band than an album band), but overall yeah I feel this band is not one to compete in the longevity sweepstakes, a band that's on the radar (tv on the radar? dahdunktshhh) now so the average music listener can say "yes I too listen to this boutique hipster band from Brooklyn" can't forget to mention Brooklyn in their press package of course! they must be good, right? but yeah eventually all the skittering beats and the guy's wailing vocals bring on ear fatigue, it gets old - very 'of its time', plus I, at least, find them boring as fuck live

honestly, the term "hipster" as an insult is getting pretty fucking old by now.

Also, that is a terrific, quintessentially New York-styled choice of outdoor venue (even if music videos in the '80s corned the whole hornlines-on-fire-escapes thing). Extremely befitting of a band like TVOTR that is so unique in how they cross over.

i like tv on the radio - i think it was a nice idea that they played on a fire escape but i don't think they really got their sound across or maybe its the new album - i haven't had the chance to listen to it yet. but every album tv on the radio has put out has never disappointed me... and i don't think this one will either- hopefully.

Even considering my e-mail address, I think this album is terrible. I can't imagine them being in a creative rut, but it really feels like they were pushing the deadlines with this album. It sounds so forced, straight forward, and trying so hard to achieve something rather than just well constructed, creative songs. Maybe I'm not used to them driving so hard, and while they're noted for fancy production Sitek comes off sterile this time around. Oh well, 2 great LPs and an EP that rivals both. Glad I saw them twice before this album. They've played live every song I've ever wanted to hear.
